This stunning piece by Serena Kovalosky is entitled “Forest Pod” and was several months in creation.

Intricate carving “opens” the form to reveal a warm interior, meticulously gilded with layers of gold alloy leaf. Detailed patterns are woodburned onto the exterior surface. An organic yet sophisticated piece.

Serena Kovalosky’s work is inspired by the pristine wilderness of the Adirondack Mountains surrounding her studio in northeastern New York State. The gilded interior of this particular piece literally glows when the work is displayed under a light source, like an open campfire in the woods.
