What are “standard quality” gourds? They are gourds that cannot be considered premium quality gourds because they have one or more of the following issues:

Small bug holes or divots:

Slanted bottom (does not sit).
Stem off center (shape not symmetrical)

Scars or other blemishes:

Small cracks:

	Body of gourd is almost perfectly round and symmetrical	Shell of the gourd is extra thick	Gourd has a flat bottom and sits perfectly or near perfectly straight.	Shell is free of flaws, such as small cracks, scarring [like where the shell grew against the ground], small divots in the shell, and shell dryness
Premium Quality	X	X	X	X
Standard Quality	A standard quality gourd usually has some of these traits but not all.

Standard quality gourds are in demand because they cost SO MUCH LESS than premium quality gourds, and the slight flaws they have are typically easily fixed with woodfiller (or in the case of uneven gourds, a gourd stand).
